Hello and welcome to Charming North! Thank you for stopping by! We are Ted and Ashley Clark. The Charming North blog, which launched in the fall of 2017, is our creative outlet to share ideas, creations, inspiration, and things that we love. Charming North is a home décor and furnishings and men’s and women’s clothing retail shop and lifestyle blog focusing on home décor, style, recipes, travel, and a little bit of everyday life.
In April 2019, the Charming North retail shop opened in downtown Cadillac, Michigan, offering curated collections of new, vintage, and hand-crafted home décor, furnishings, gifts, and more. Ted and Ashley own and operate the store together, both creating and sourcing unique pieces for the home while also featuring local artists and artisans. We have a deep love of history and historical pieces and we love mixing antiques and vintage pieces with a bit of new and modern as well as hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind pieces.
In January of 2022, we purchased the neighboring business, RJ Grants, and the building that houses both stores. RJ Grants was a men’s and women’s clothing store that had been a part of Downtown Cadillac for over 25 years. We created an opening in the wall between the two stores making it one large store and blended the two stores together. The building offers over 7,000 sq. ft. upstairs that has been vacant for several decades, and we have plans to someday renovate this space and make it a functional space open to the public again.
