Merry Christmas, friends! I hope this Christmas season finds you well. We have been battling colds this December, but are on the mend and will hopefully be all rested and healthy for Christmas. One positive side to being sick is that we’ve spent lots of time at home resting and enjoying the time together. I have to say, with the glow of Christmas lights and festive decor throughout the house, I don’t mind that at all! It has felt so extra cozy in our home lately.

I was able to pull the rest of our Christmas decor together this past week and photograph our spaces to share our 2018 Christmas Home Tour. Instead of sharing a space at a time, this season, I decided to wait and do a full Christmas home tour all at once of all of our decorated spaces.

Welcome to our home! Our main entrance brings you into our breezeway/mudroom. Teddy built these awesome cubbies with hooks for us to help house the insane amount of hats, gloves, mittens, etc. that comes with having a family of six. We found this cute extra long wooden bench on a local yard sale site, and it fits the space just perfectly. We kept the Christmas decor in this space fairly minimal, as it gets cluttered pretty quickly in here without any extras. The “HOME” sign with the wreath was a DIY I shared last year, and you can find that here.

Our breezeway is home to more than boots and coats, though… It’s also home to our sweet bunny, Poppy.

The hallway from the breezeway leads straight into our living room. You might recognize the wall color in here… It’s the same as our old living room. I loved the SW Sea Salt color so much that I decided to use it again in our new home, but this time pairing it with more neutral shades.

Our stockings aren’t linkable, unfortunately. The two knit stockings on the left were purchased at TJ Maxx, the striped stocking is from Hobby Lobby, and the three stockings furthest to the right were all Meijer purchases. We normally use the same stockings every year, but I decided to switch it up this year. You can find our rug and curtain details here:

We picked this old sideboard out of an old carriage house and the windows were a free find from the marketplace on Facebook. The basket we’re using as an end table was a Home Goods purchase and the lamp was a Goodwill find that I spruced up with fresh paint and a new shade. The trellis clock was purchased at Kirkland’s about a year ago. The leather recliner (not currently available in leather) and tufted arm chair can be found here:

Our mirrors and frame were vintage finds as were many of the books and candle holders. I strung twine in a zig-zag pattern inside the large frame and used mini clothespins to display Christmas cards and art. In the past we have displayed our Christmas cards on a shelf or pinned to garland around a doorway. I love finding fun ways to display the beautiful cards we receive. You can find the black and white tree printables from Vintage Porch, seen on our Christmas card display, here. Our tree is from Walmart, but is not linkable.

I made fresh garland out of two different types of pine to hang around the fireplace. I struggled with the fireplace decor above the garland… The fireplace is large and awkward and with a large TV on top and media boxes, it made it difficult to decorate. After some playing around, I decided to stack books with the page side out in different sizes and heights to disguise the ugly media boxes. I then topped them with some village pieces, candles, and bottle brush trees to create different levels and layers of decor. I had the two-piece framed barn pictures from a recent thrift store visit, and added those to the wall behind each little vignette to add depth. I placed the elk sheds in front of the TV to tie it all together.

From the living room, you enter into our favorite room in the house, the sunroom. This was the first room we started decorating for Christmas, and I love how festively cozy it is. The sunroom is filled with vintage pieces, some passed down from family like the cedar chest, daybed, crocks, ammo crates, and chairs, and others were lucky scores from local yard sales and thrift shops. The 6′ flocked Christmas tree (thanks to Natalie from Vintage Porch for sharing) was a great deal of only $35 at Walmart.

As a child, I used to stand and stare at my mom’s Dickens Village every Christmas season. They were so beautiful and I just wanted to play with them, but of course, she wouldn’t let me touch them… I can’t imagine why.. A few weeks ago I was asking her questions about it because I was on the hunt for a village of my own and she offered to let me take them “on loan”. We all know what that means, right! 😉 Love you, mom! I reminded her how she never let me touch them before and she said she was happy she could fulfill a life long dream of mine! 😂 So Teddy helped me set them up and our kiddos are just as mesmerized by them as I was. ❤️ Being the Hallmark Christmas movie nerd that I am, it reminds me of a cute little Christmas village from a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. 😍

Then, last week, my sweet aunt dropped by with a special gift for me. She brought me a couple pieces that my grandma had passed on to her as well as a piece she had bought to give my grandma for Christmas. Grandma had always wanted a Dept 56 village, and she had purchased a collection for her earlier this year. My sweet grandma unexpectedly went to be with Jesus the day before our big family Thanksgiving a few weeks ago. I’m heartbroken that she’s not with us this holiday season, but I feel so blessed that my aunt gifted me with a little piece of her for Christmas. ❤️ I love sentimental gifts and family heirlooms. It’s a way of keeping a small piece of our loved ones with us. Each hand-me-down, each vintage and antique piece, and each family heirloom has a story. It has a history. And it may make me sentimental and sappy, but I just love collecting those types of pieces. Probably more than anything else. ❤️

I really wanted to find something to act as kind of a background to the Dickens village but still be a pretty piece of art and after searching and not finding anything within my budget, I decided to paint one myself. I don’t know that I’d really call myself a painter, but I have painted pieces for my own decor in the past. I enjoy it when I get to paint, but it is time consuming and with four kiddos, I don’t get to do it all that often. I’m happy with how this piece turned out and it’s the perfect size to fit about the village.

Next, passing back through the living room, you enter into our formal dining room. I’ve always dreamed of having a formal dining room and I love this space. The wood stairs and coved ceilings offer so much of the old house character I love.

Teddy made this long shelf for the long wall in the dining room and I stained, painted and distressed the shelf and corbels. We found these really cool vintage reproduction hooks at Hobby Lobby and I lettered the number cards. The stocking advent calendar was purchased at Home Goods last year, as was the “C”. I made the silhouettes of our kiddos in photoshop and framed them in oval frames from Walmart. The top of the shelf is decorated with reclaimed vintage finds, bottle brush trees, and a little fresh garland.

Our dining room table was passed down from Teddy’s sweet grandparents and it fits our dining room perfectly. I topped it with a simple slightly shimmery tablecloth from TJ Maxx and a long strand of fresh garland. I found the candle holders at a local thrift store and we used some of our simple white dishes with red berries. I also added a few candles to a trifle dish and added a few fresh cranberries for a nice pop of red. Our chandelier is from Home Depot and you can find that here. I looked for a long time for the right area rug for this space and decided on this gorgeous rug. You can find a very similar one here:

Our china cabinet was a Craigslist find, and after deciding it was more work than I was ready to take on to refinish it completely, I decided to add a pop by painting the back piece Coastal Blue by Rustoleum. I added a few festive touches like garland, gingerbread houses, a beautiful vintage eggnog set, and more to our china and other treasures to make it Christmas ready.

From the dining room, you enter into the kitchen. We didn’t do a lot of decorating in the kitchen, but we added a few Christmas-y decorations and the kids were happy to display their gingerbread creations in the breakfast nook. The cute Christmas tree tablecloth is from Walmart. You can find our breakfast nook chandelier here:

There you have it! Our 2018 Christmas home tour. Most of what was pictured was stuff I already had, thrifted and gifted items, stuff I made, or decor with fresh/natural elements. I was able to link some of the larger items that we purchased to furnish the space, but so much of our decorating is done with thrifted and reclaimed items, DIY pieces, natural elements, and items we already had. I hope this inspires you to get creative with your Christmas decor and cozy up your spaces with both new and old pieces.

As always, thanks for stopping by the blog! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas filled with love and laughter! Merry Christmas!
