Our Fall Breakfast Nook | 2019
Some people love open concept layouts for their home, and although I think open concepts are beautiful, I’ve always dreamed of having a formal dining room and a breakfast nook in the kitchen. I like more divided layouts with designated rooms that also flow well together without necessarily being open to each other. This space definitely checked a box for me when we looked at purchasing this house and the cute little builtin shelving was an extra bonus. We did some updating to the space and Teddy built the bench and refinished the table for this little nook. You can see some before photos and more details on the space HERE.
I kept our fall decor pretty subtle this year, with small pops of warm fall colors and a sprinkling of neutral fall decor throughout the house. In this space, very little changed with a small addition of copper, a few fall flowers, and a simple rearrangement of items.
I love that this little nook is so functional for us. It serves as a great spot for meals on a daily basis, as our kids are still small and not all meals are dining room rug friendly. 😉 Even the builtin shelf nook is both beautiful and functional, offering storage and decor. I love that I can style necessary kitchen items like cook books, copper mugs, rolling pins, and cutting boards right out in the open where they’re easy to grab and they also add a pretty pop to this small space.
Fall decor doesn’t have to cost much and it doesn’t have to be extravagant. You can add subtle touches to your everyday decor to warm it up and bring in small seasonal pops for a cozy fall feel. I love adding a little copper, some darker pieces such as dark browns and black, and just a few warm fall colors like the fall florals in cream, burnt orange, and red. By adding these subtle changes in small amounts, it brings that fall feel without breaking the budget or overpowering your everyday decor.
This little nook is also a great space to enjoy a cup of coffee and some warm blackberry crumble in peace and quiet… Okay, maybe not in peace and quiet, but I enjoyed it anyways.
I hope that you’re all enjoying this beautiful season and finding ways to bring that special fall feeling into your own homes. What things make fall special to you? Leave a comment and let me know!
