2019 Christmas Home Tour

Last year, the Christmas season got away from me and I didn’t get a chance to do a full post on our Christmas home tour. That’s okay, though, as it has given me an opportunity to get a head start on posting Christmas inspiration for this upcoming Christmas season.

I had a lot of fun last year using several of my favorite Christmas items from the shop. Little Christmas trees, garland, ornaments, wreaths, and more from the shop beautified our home for the holidays. Grab a cup of coffee and let’s tour a few of our main living spaces all done up for Christmas!

Hallway Vignette

I loved this little entry hallway vignette, last year, with a pretty and neutral Christmas look.

The Living Room

For us, the living room is the heart of our home. It’s where we gather together and get cozy, share in conversation, play games, and relax. The living room is also where we gather on Christmas morning, sipping coffee while the kids open gifts and play. Making this space feel extra magical for Christmas makes all the difference in making our Christmas extra special.

This old record cabinet houses our internet modem and router and other media consoles to keep the room a little more neat and tidy.

I decided I really wanted to be able to hide the TV when we weren’t using it, so I painted this large snowy pine trees painting to set in front of it. It added a beautiful focal point to our fireplace. To go along with the painting, I added some of my collection of small Christmas trees and angels to each side.

The Antique Candle Co. Tree Farm candle added a nice touch to our little tree farm.

This set of old shutters added a fun layer to the front of our fireplace and acted as a backdrop to our garland and stockings. The cream colored chunky knit garland and the pine garland were from the shop and are both available there this Christmas season as well.

Teddy built this beautiful bookcase shortly before Christmas last year, and it was the best Christmas present! I’m a big fan of functional décor, and this was so needed in this space.

The Dining Room

Just off the living room is our formal dining room. Our gatherings often extend into this room for meals and games. The flow between the living room and dining room allows us to connect between rooms. For example, during the holidays when the adults play a game at the dining room table, we can still keep an eye on the kids playing in the living room or the other way around. We can also see the TV from the table when playing games, although we try not to have it on during meal time. I love how these rooms flow together, with the dining room also connecting to the kitchen and creating a nice flow between those two spaces as well.

For a fun pop to our Christmas table setting, I ran a layer of Christmas-y plaid gift wrap down the length of the table overtop of a neutral tablecloth. The gift wrap added a pretty Christmas pop while also making cleanup a little easier because it can be thrown away when the meal is over.

A strand of pretty pine garland, some berry stems, pretty cream and gold bottle brush trees, and brass candlesticks, all from the shop, created a gorgeous centerpiece down the middle of the table. These pieces and similar pieces are all available this year as well.

For each place setting, our white with red berry dishes tied in perfectly with the rest of the table décor. I topped each setting with vintage Currier & Ives Christmas cards as place cards to add a pretty vintage touch.

This long shelf in our dining room provided a perfect spot for our Dickens village, up out of reach of little hands but still beautifully displayed in view for all of us to enjoy.

Lastly, in the dining room, is our china cabinet. I dressed it up a bit with some pine branches and garland, my white pitcher collection, and a few other Christmas treasures. A couple village pieces, some bottle brush trees, a “Fresh Cut Christmas Trees” sign from the shop, and a vintage eggnog set were the simple touches needed to add some Christmas to this piece.

The Sunroom

Our beloved sunroom, where we cozy up and enjoy the outdoors from the toasty warm indoors. In the last two years that we’ve been in this house, we’ve had a Christmas tree in this space and it has been such a joy to enjoy some Christmas magic in here. Just a few simple touches is all this space needed, as the snowy winter wonderland surrounding the room already makes it feel extra Christmas-y.

With the pops of reds, blues, and greens in this mostly white room, I chose to keep this snowy flocked tree very simple, only adding some twinkle lights and white snowflakes. I bent the branches downward to give it a more realistic snow covered look, which went well with the views of the snowy outdoors.

That wraps our 2019 Christmas tour! I’ve got some things for this Christmas in the works already as well as some fun house projects I’ve been working on, all of which I’ll be sharing soon. I hope you enjoyed a little Christmas inspiration and I wish you all a very safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving! Don’t be afraid to get in the Christmas spirit a little early, as we could all use a little extra joy this year.
