A Charming Christmas Open House | 2022
A couple weeks ago we had our 4th annual Charming Christmas Open House, and we’re so thankful for all the wonderful support! So many of our wonderful customers, new and old, came downtown and shopped, browsed through our shop, won prizes and discounts, toured the event space, and enjoyed desserts and refreshments and coffee courtesy of Chunky Bear Coffee Roasters in The North Room on Friday and Saturday, and it was such a joy to see and experience!
This year’s Christmas reset looked a little different than past years… While we normally close for the week before the open house to do a full reset of the store, we instead did a more gradual reset over the course of two weeks while open, and only closed for part of a day. With the expansion and the addition of clothing, it didn’t work out to close down for that long, so we put in some late nights and extra days and we made it happen. It was fun to have the addition of the clothing and so many more men’s gifts and merchandise this year!
Our resets typically involve some changes in the layout of the shop, moving around some furniture, moving and redisplaying most of the home and gifts inventory, bringing out all of our Christmas inventory, redoing the window displays, and lots of decorating. The Charming Christmas Open House is the big reveal of the Christmas reset and the introduction to the Christmas season at Charming North. It’s a celebration of the change in season. We schedule this event towards the beginning of November each year because, while many don’t decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, after Halloween is when many people start planning for and buying for Christmas decorating and gift giving.
We have to be a little ahead of the game in the retail world, so that’s why you see this reset come a little early for some. That said, not everything in the store is for Christmas and there is still so much everyday inventory in home décor, furnishings, gifts, and men’s and women’s clothing. We also keep a section of fall décor that is discounted, for anyone who wants to grab an end of the season deal or if you decorate for fall through Thanksgiving. We are currently running 30% off of fall décor until December!
Even though the Christmas reset and open house were a little different this year, it was all positive changes, with twice the store to explore and probably more than double the inventory to check out, offering so many amazing options for all!
